CARPENTRY TESTIMONIALS

From my customers:

Tom did several smaller projects for us – a gate, a multi-mailbox holder with cover, a cabinet repurposing, and a window box.  All four were design-build projects.  Tom did an absolutely great job translating what we wanted into a workable design and then building it.   He also came up with creative solutions to the minor issues that develop with any building project, and the results were professional and sturdy and captured what we wanted exactly. Tom is easy to work with and brought creativity, thoughtfulness, and persistence to each job – and all for a very reasonable price.  We appreciated his work very much. - Barbara M.

Tom Wiseley first helped me out by identifying what I thought was a pipe leak (which would require opening walls) as a hot water tank leak.  He then picked up a new tank and installed it!  Next he replaced the stairs to my front door.  He did such a great job I’ve asked him often to take care of my rental house issues. - Mary B.

Tom Wisely is more than a just a reliable carpenter.  Over the past ten years, he has helped me remodel two different homes.  From demo to innovative and complete remodels, to finish carpentry and tile work, Tom can do it all!  He converted my two-car garage into a world-class art studio and in the same summer, he remodeled a full basement, two full bathrooms and a guest bedroom in the same home. Most recently, in my second home, he remodeled my old garage and turned it into a family room and office.  He has turned both of my homes into places where I can live as well as work comfortably and efficiently.  Tom’s work is not only beautiful, it’s sound.  I feel great knowing that the home around me is worth more and that it will last longer, all thanks to Tom.

Tom draws his many skills and experiences from many interesting places.  He is a trained and respected theatrical set and lighting designer, so he really knows spaces and how to make them look good!  Tom has also built or remodeled, managed and maintained  both huge, historic apartment buildings as well as state of the art luxury condominiums.  This turned him into a Jack of all trades, giving him ample knowledge and experience in painting, plumbing, installing light fixtures and outlets, wall and glass repair—you name it, he’s done it!  Tom even builds fences, decks and outdoor staircases. The best thing of all about Tom is that he’s just so great to work with.  Tom goes out of his way to do a beautiful, high-quality job that works well with the rest of the house and he always helps keep me under budget.  Tom makes exciting designs come to life! - Doug P.

I met Tom through my Daughter, he had been recommended by a neighbor to build shelves and cabinets on either side of her living room fireplace.  The work was so well done; she had him do other projects in her children’s bedrooms.  Tom worked with and around her children (8 to 4 years old) to do the work.  All three now run to talk to him when he is at my house.  I had several projects that needed done, when I saw the quality of work he had done I immediately called him to some see me. Tom realized that I am mobility impaired with a major concern of being able to get in and out of my home.  He worked diligently to plan and construct a set of steps that I could easily negotiate.  During the process of completing the steps, I was hospitalized.  The hospital would not release me until I could climb three steps stairs into my home by pulling up with the handrails which were the original design.  When I came home, I had six steps with less than 5 inch rise and walked up them unassisted.  I will always remember how proud I am of new stairs that Tom had built for me.He has since finished the new stairs into my garden and for the first time in two years I am not afraid of falling going there.  Without question he (the carpenter) replaced my toilet with an ADA complaint one.  Tom now has a list of other projects that I trust him to do well.  The list includes removing my bathtub and installing a walk-in shower with a new shower system as well as more remodel work, installing new lighting and other minor electrical and plumbing work.  Tom has always delivered good results.  He works with me to make sure what he does is what I want taking into consideration my limitations now and possible future needs.  He gives quotes on each project and is careful to make sure that if I change something I understand the cost impact.  He gives you a schedule and lives to it to make sure you are satisfied.  He is easy to contact verbally or by email and messaging if you need to contact him.  I enjoy working with Tom and am glad to recommend him for all carpentry and general remodel work. - Larry W.

Tom brings artistic imagination and creative problem-solving to his impressive carpentry and handyman skills. He has worked for several years and on two elderly, quirky houses of mine, on a wide variety of projects, and I have always been impressed by the outcome. He has built decks and porch steps; created pathways;  installed shelving, baseboard shoes, vents, air conditioners, sink plumbing, and ceiling fans; plastered walls; painted eaves. He has devised beautiful, strong furniture out of a stained old butcher block and a vintage set of mailboxes. Whatever the project, he is extremely thoughtful, consultative, and meticulous. He respects your ideas and helps to realize them, and when appropriate discusses their pros and cons, tactfully. He can be relied on to respect your budget, as well as your aesthetic preferences. He approaches his projects with good humor, which can survive unexpected and unpleasant developments such as exploding water pipes. He is adroit at disguising the crooked lines that can besiege old house constructions. A good improviser and a good planner. - Laura C.
