Best Play of the Year, Best Director and Most Stoned Group of Individuals of the Year awards.

I was very into Existentialism and Camus especially.  Found this in a collection of classic plays that rarely get produced since they’re great literature but not great drama and I liked the challenge of taking an old chestnut and creating a wild spectacle packed with philosophical debate.  Plus Guccione’s film had just been released and I knew the public would likely pack the house thinking that’s what they were coming to see–which they did.
